Its the High Priests of the Barbarella Girl God Love Cult! Its The Chevelles !”- Little Steven (Sopranos, Bruce Springsteen E Street Band) 2008

It was the summer of 1989-90. The twin peaks of revivalist 60’s psychedelia and post punk garage rock and roll had collided in Australia. Out of the West Australian surf crawled 4 long haired boys determined to make their own special guitar noise….. The Chevelles were born. 20 years later The Chevelles have played over 1000 live shows, released over 20 recordings and extensively toured Australia and the US, Brazil and Europe over a dozen times in their career….playing in small sweaty rooms, massive outdoor stadium concerts and wild beach festivals . They have earnt their underground reputation as “Australian Cult Garage Power Pop Legends”. In 2010 they kickstart their 20th Year Anniversary World Tour in the US with the release of their new album “Accelerator” and once again drive down the highway on another Rock and Roll adventure !

“The guitars are some of the biggest in the business, towering power chords straight from the loins of Pete Townsend almost to big and always melodic in an immaculate way” Houston Press, USA

Get It On is free through April 30, so check it out & tell your friends.

Grand Atlantic are an alternative rock band from Brisbane, Australia. They blast out melodic, hard-hitting songs, often compared to Oasis and Jet but recalling the powerpop sensibilities of Redd Kross or Teenage Fanclub. This band is all about immediate hooks, visceral guitar riffs and a swaggering rhythm section. Their new album, titled ‘How We Survive’ was released in July 2009 by Laughing Outlaw Records in Australia. Tracks from ‘How We Survive’ have been featured on blogs and internet radio stations everywhere from Belgium to Russia, and the album enjoyed extensive airplay on Australian radio, ending up on a number of the year’s “best-of” lists…

The band’s sound relies on equally on crunchy riffs and chiming, Byrds-esque guitars, welded seamlessly to robust pop songs with instantly-memorable choruses. Lyrically, the new album attempts to reconcile lead singer Phil Usher’s feelings on mortality and loss, as well as the challenges of living in this modern world. If that all sounds too serious, don’t be put off – these songs are testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and Usher delivers an uplifting set of pop gems that can stand proudly beside the best in the genre. Put simply, this is thrilling modern rock, performed to perfection and tailor-made for the revivalist and the seekers of the new alike. Currently getting widespread US radio airplay.

The Goons of Doom are throwing a party and want everyone to come topless. The five childhood friends started the band five years ago with instruments bought from a pawn shop and with rudimentary skills wrote simple songs that were startling, honest, ridiculous and instantly catchy. Two albums later, their sound has been honed into an ecstatic mix of shanty sing-a-long surf mixed with deadbeat rock and roll gak.

Blissfully unpretentious and lacking any real form of ambition, the Goons deliver a unique live musical experience, in that they genuinely want to share their energetic life’s stories while simultaneously dismantling crossed arms, disarming judgmental stares and tearing down every last guarded ego in the room. It’s this attitude that has seen them travel to the furthest corners of the globe igniting hearts, soaking t-shirts and crushing all and sundry with sincere bone cracking hugs. The Goons of Doom are simply here to play. Get the new Goons Of Doom record “I Hate My Hair and I Want to Die” available now on Volcom Entertainment.

We asked Alexander 5 questions and he gave us 5 reasons to like him more than we did before, see for yourself:

Q: If you could sit next to anyone on the flight who would it be?
A: Bob Dylan

Q: What won’t you travel to/from Australia without?
A: My acoustic guitar

Q: What song would you dedicate to V Australia & why?
A: Anything by Leonard Cohen, I always listen to him when flying, he helps me fall asleep. Not because he’s boring, because it’s comforting and smooth.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to pass on to Sir Richard Branson?
A: Richard seems to be a patron of the arts, and the arts could do with more people like him. Millionaires.

Q: What are you most looking forward to at the festival?
A: At SXSW, I’m most looking forward to meeting our agents from the UK & US and sharing a beer with my compatriots at the Aussie BBQ.

After that tease, you’ll likely need more, so here you go: myspace, twitter & facebook.

Q: If you could sit next to anyone on the flight who would it be?
A: Sir George Martin

Q: What won’t you travel to/from Australia without?
A: Tim tams, cibo coffee and fabric softner – ( there’s nothing worse then a starchy t-shirt.)

Q: What song would you dedicate to V Australia & why?
A: ‘Like a virgin’ by Madonna. I could dedicate a City Riots track but since the majority of them are about lost love, It may give Richard Branson the wrong idea.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to pass on to Sir Richard Branson?
A: Could we set up a rehearsal space on your private island? At least the neighbours won’t be kept awake.

Q: What are you most looking forward to at the festival?
A: Finding out how we will manage to play set up and play two shows on opposite ends of the city with only 20 mins in between each show on the Saturday of SXSW.

Still can’t get enough? We’ve got more where that came from: myspace, facebook & twitter.
